GET INVOLVED - WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT

 

"It takes a village" to elect Democrats.  Share your interests, skills, and available time with us by volunteering to do one or more of the following:

 

-Make a financial contribution to the Bremer County Democrats

 (Send contributions to Mary Brown, Treasurer, 300 Water St, Sumner, IA 50674)

-Offer to serve on the County Central Committee to represent your township/ward

-Make phone calls

-Prepare mailings for fundraisers or other events

 

-Help prepare our on-line newsletter

-Post yard signs

-Help at fundraising events (parking, registration, set up, clean up, food, signs, serving,

 decorating, entertainment, host a candidate)

-Have a coffee/get acquainted event for a candidate

 

-Help with an issue forum

-Help with a candidate forum

-Distribute literature in your neighborhood

-Help register people to vote

 

-Help with computer work

-Help at the Bremer County Fair Booth

-Help drive our float in community parades

-Help with design and printing of materials

 

-Help promote/market events

-Work at the Bremer County Democratic Headquarters

-Work at the polls during elections

-Serve as a poll watcher during elections

-Help with absentee ballots

 

-Help train volunteers

-Speak on an issue

-Serve as a candidate for county, state or national office

-Write a letter to the editor (see tips/contatcts below)

-Share information with others about the issues

 

 

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR TIPS and MEDIA CONTACTS:

 

• Be clear and concise:  Keep your letters brief, concise and to the point.
• Check letter guidelines for each newspaper. Most newspapers will not run letters to the editor that are longer than 200-250 words.  An op-ed piece can be longer than 250 words.
• Include your contact information.  Most newspapers will only print a leeter after calling the author to verify his/her identity and address. Include your name, address, phone, and e-mail.
• E-mail (that is quickest and easiest for newspapers) or send your letter to the newspaper using the information below.
